“Love Will Come Back” by Victoria's Flight – A Song Feature

     Particularly early in the single from Victoria’s Flight, the instruments are artfully arranged to capture the lyrical message of “Love Will Come Back.” The instruments reside in the lower frequencies for more than 30 seconds, and there are deep drones. This signals a mournfulness. Not surprisingly, the verse proclaims, “… you left me without warning / And I’m cold and I’m dark inside.” Then, the last line in the verse optimistically declares that “Love will come back,” and a higher frequency, cheerier keyboard hook temporarily makes its mark.

     While telling the background of “Love Will Come Back,” Victoria's Flight stated that the song came together quickly. That is not apparent from the single. Elements are aligned, which isn’t often the situation without careful thought and numerous subtle adjustments. We particularly appreciate the energy that bubbles up during the chorus, reinforcing the lyrical message that while his love interest won’t be back, he’ll be fine and the sun will rise.

     Victoria's Flight is a duo based in Glasgow, Scotland. They now perform with a full band, but the duo is Matt Robertson and Craig Harkness, who met and became close friends during their school years. Discussing “Love Will Come Back:”

 “We think it was fate because we had recorded our first two singles and needed a third to complete the trilogy and out came this. It’s not a classic ‘all is lost, end of the world love long.’ It’s not a ‘happily ever after,’ but it’s the realisation of ‘ok yeah that was good but the best is yet to come.’ So remember, Love Will Come Back.”
