“Nowhere Now” by Wyland – A Song Feature

In their anthemic single, Wyland describes a need to escape. From an historical perspective, the message of “Nowhere Now” represents the attitude of U.S. youth in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the two coasts were the target destinations for those in the middle of the country. Interestingly, Ryan Sloan explains that he began writing the song while the band was in Austin, experiencing the chaos of SXSW.

Wyland is based in Kearny, New Jersey. The members are Ryan Sloan (lead vocals, piano, guitar), Ariella Mastroianni (vocals, keyboard), Chris Luna (drums, vocals), Pat Viso (guitar) and Zach Calidonna (bass guitar).

Lyrics of “Nowhere Now” by Wyland
I don’t want to be another lonely soul
In a lonely town
With nowhere to go

And I don’t want to be the one with plastic dreams
In a plastic town
Where nobody’s free

Because people here,
Just want to see

So I’ll go where my feet don’t touch the ground
Full speed to nowhere now
before the fire in my heart is out

And you wonder what it’s all about
Come where your head’s not filled with doubts
To nowhere now, nowhere now

I don’t want to be the one who fades away
In a fade away town
Have you ever felt the pain?

Yeah, because I just wanted to feel
With something that’s real
So grab momma’s keys
We’re taking her automobile

Because something here
Just don’t feel right

So I’ll go where my feet don’t touch the ground
Full speed to nowhere now
Before the fire in my heart is out

And you wonder what it’s all about
Come where your head’s not filled with doubts
To nowhere now, nowhere now

Where our feet don’t touch the ground
We’re full speed to nowhere now
Before the fire in my heart is out

And you wonder what it’s all about
Come where your head’s not filled with doubts
To nowhere now, nowhere now

Go where our feet don’t touch the ground
We’re full speed to nowhere now
Before the fire in my heart is out

Nowhere now
Nowhere now
