“Stay
OK” masterfully and seamlessly comingles passionate, shared-confessional segments
with a Classic Rock bridge. The bridge begins around 2:22 and features layered
guitars that rival The Outlaws (aka “The Florida Guitar Army”) during their heyday
of the mid-1970s. The bridge is brief, but its impact is amplified by the
sequence that immediately follows – as the tempo drops to set up an intensity
build that carries the listener to the final seconds of “Stay OK.”
In
an interesting explanation of the basis of “Stay OK,” the band said it is:
“A song for those who have found themselves in situations they weren’t supposed to be in. A situation so wrong that it starts to feel right. An interesting concept but we’ve all been there at some point in our lives. Find comfort in discomfort.”
The
members of Boston Levi are Mike McNamee, Ryan Williams, Mike Montgomery, and
Claud Northey. They are a Canadian-based band (Ottawa). If you immediately think
“hockey” when Canada is mentioned, there is some justification here, since frontman
Mike McNamee retired from his professional hockey career to focus on music. The
band is signed with 745 Music, a Canadian multi-service music company. “What
brought us all together was just the idea of playing music for fun,” shares
drummer Ryan Williams. “We were all at a point in our lives where we kind of
accepted that we were just going to work, instead of play. And then this
happened, and now there's a whole new idea of what the future may hold.”
Boston
Levi is a band that recognizes the wars that live inside of us, and wants their
listeners to know that they’re not alone in waging them. Mixing arena-ready
rock with alt-country flourishes and pop elements, the Ottawa-based four-piece
processes the trials and tribulations of the human experience with a soaring
sound and down-to-Earth lyricism.

Lyrics of “Stay OK” by Boston Levi
Stay ok, was one mistake
It was never supposed to be this way
Can you stay ok?
Matchstick lighter,
Backseat driver
I'm headed for your door
You’re a shotgun lover, undercover
More than you bargained for
Are we coming undone?
Are we coming undone?
Stay ok
One mistake
It was never supposed to be this way
Can you stay ok?
Can you stay ok?
Call me crying
Someone’s lyin’
Don't let ‘em see your face
Your eyes fading
Cold sweat shakin’
Let's just get out of this place, cause it's coming undone
Are we coming undone?
Stay ok
Was one mistake
It was never supposed to be this way
Can you stay ok?
Can you stay ok?
In the dark in the dead of night
Only hoped you wouldn't pass me by
Undercover of the pale moonlight
You laid your head right next to mine
You were running at the light of day
It was never supposed to be this way
You were running just to stay ok
Can you stay ok?
Stay ok
One mistake
It was never supposed to be this way
Can you stay ok?
Can you stay ok?
