“Rest On Me” and “Won’t You Stay” by River Meets Sea – Song Features

Folk-tinged Ambient Indie Rock – who’d know? Well, “London’s River Meets Sea for one. We had “Won’t You Stay” on the list of songs to feature, but we delayed for no good reason. Then, “Rest On Me” was released and procrastination turned into impatience. The second release from River Meets Sea is even better than the first.

The band members are Joe Osborne (vocals, guitar), Liam Lovegrove (guitar, keys, vocals), Jamie Howard (drums), and Luke Remon (bass, vocals). Quoting their Facebook page:
“River Meets Sea maintains a spectral intimacy in both their live performances and studio recordings. Through the campaign of their last EP The Republic under their former name of Joe Osborne & The Winter Moon, they have gained support from multiple online publications…”

Lyrics of “Rest On Me” by River Meets Sea
Though the wars are raging on
Never forget where you've come from
I know I cannot say I'll always understand
I'll always be there to hold you hand

Though I don't know where you've been
Nor the horrors you have seen
I would not count the cost to help you bear your loss
I'll always comfort you when you are lost

So, rest on me, rest on me
And I will hold you up
So, rest on me, rest on me
I'll cast away your yesterdays
I'll peel away all of the masks you made

When the world seems oh so loud
And all you see is rain and cloud
I'll try to help you find a little piece of mind
I'll walk alongside you through and through

Over the bridge and over the water
Through every storm I will lead you to shelter

So, rest on me, rest on me
And I will hold you up
So, rest on me, rest on me
I'll cast away your yesterdays
I'll wash away all of the masks you made

So, rest on me, rest on me
And I will hold you up
Rest on me, rest on me
I'll cast away your yesterdays
I'll peel away all of the masks you made

Lyrics of “Won’t You Stay” by River Meets Sea
Lurking around the corner
A million miles away
Is a sense of the forbidden
That will not go away

The town below is sleeping
With the windows open wide
The people live in silence
Without no melody, no melody

I walk around just searching
And taking photographs
But when I go to print them
It seems that no one laughs

The scarlet night is angry
And howls in harmony
The wolves are ever prowling
Round their own mortality, mortality
No melody

Won't you stay for, just a little while more?
On no
Though I'm leaving, leaving out your back door
So take me home
Cold wind blows
And I am not afraid to be on my own

The last lamppost is flashing
In the dead end silent night
The rain below is beating
And glowing in the light

The people run in circles
Chasing their own tails
Trapped inside a prison
Of their own normality, normality
There's no melody

Won't you stay for, just a little while more?
Oh no
Though I'm leaving, leaving out your back door
Oh no
Won't you stay for, just a little while more?
Oh no

Though I'm leaving, leaving out your back door
So take me home

Won't you stay for, just a little while more?
[Repeated 5x]
