“Three And A Half Minutes” by Carnival Kid – A Song Feature

Carnival Kid explains that Three And A Half Minutes” is his first song about his work as a teacher. That helps explain the “recess sounds” at the start. He is Christian Stezycki in Erfurt, Germany. The song is from the perspective of one of the students. The lyrics are at the bottom of this post.

Carnival Kid elaborates on this song:
"Three And A Half Minutes" is a song that is very much inspired by work as a teacher at a public school in a socially problematic area. Most of the kids I deal with think that being rude and loud is the one way to be seen by their teachers, parents and friends. The song starts chaotic, then enters with an inner monologue and finally evolves into something driving and grand.

Lyrics of “Three And A Half Minutes” by Carnival Kid
I don't want to be your next three a' half minute song
I want to be more
Something that you really care for
I don't want to be the next kid you throw out of the room
I want to be more
Someone that you really care for

I don't know who I am
But I know
That I'm able to make you lose it all
I can't be tamed and I can't slow down
If you don't see me
If you don't see me now

I don't want to get lost in detention class
I want to be more
Someone you don't ignore
I don't want to hear you say "There ain't no use."
I want to be more
Someone that you hope for

I don't know who I am
But I know
That I'm able to make you lose it all
I can't be tamed and I can't slow down
But I want you to see me
I want you to see me now

I don't want to be your next three a' half minute song
I want to be more
