“Avalanches” and “Glory Days” by Freedom Fry

Freedom Fry continues to generate blogworthy singles; and the Indie Universe continues to take notice. They are the California duo of Paris-born Marie Seyrat and Michigan-born Bruce Driscoll. “Avalanches” is our favorite Freedom Fry single of 2019, at least thus far. In talking about the song, they explained:
“This is about running at life with everything you’ve got. ‘The beat goes on, it’s a broken drum, but we’ll never let them win, gonna chase that sun, till the race is run, avalanches, we begin.’ When we first wrote this song, it was about 20 beats per minute faster and we liked it, but when we slowed it down and made it more minimal it really hit us. The piano on this recording is the one in our living room.”

We also recommend “Glory Days.” Freedom Fry notes:
“As cliche as it sounds, being in a band for us is about the journey. You never know how big you'll get or if you'll have hit songs, so you can't focus on that. What we do focus on is creating music the way we like it and having memorable experiences along the way. The goal being, amassing some really badass stories to share with your grandkids when you're an old geezer in your rocking chair. ‘Glory Days’ is about being old and telling stories to some kids about your life and everything you did. The chorus lyrics are ‘Jack Daniels and me, We're gonna throw a big party, Invite the kids, Tell 'em stories from our glory days.’”
