“Guillotine” by Elektric Animals – A Song Feature

The intro of “Guillotine” is a three-part assault on any intent to have the Elektric Animals’ single play as mere background music. The intro is only 16 seconds long, but includes a sequence of Psychedelia, power percussion and band vocals (“Nah, nah….”). The start successfully grabs the attention of a listener, then the vocals, guitars and drums hold it for the remainder of “Guillotine.”

When the lead vocals arrive, the lyrics explain that his “lady” treats him like he is Jesus and she considers him a saint. Yet, he is packing up and leaving. He recognizes that he’s lucky but people are strange.

Elektric Animals is an Indie Rock band from Denver, Colorado. The members are Nick Sanders (vocals), Oscar Jara (guitar), Jerrid Van Scoy (bass), and Kyle Christy (drums).
