Leap – A Band Feature

“Sick Sense” almost immediately sounded familiar. After listening to the song by London’s Leap a second time, we realized the vocals were similar to a 2014 favorite of Indie Obsessive – namely Mispers, which appropriately is police shorthand for “missing persons.” A quick check revealed that the frontman of Leap was the lead vocalist of The Mispers.

According to the band, Jack Balfour Scott is not a stranger to mental health issues. The songs from Leap often reflect his anguish. “Sick Sense” is based on the idea that sometimes your thoughts are never safe from the ones you hold closest. Regarding an earlier release, Scott said:
“’Potions’ is a song I wrote about addiction and the different vices people take to escape their own disturbed thoughts. Feeling disconnected from the world and the people around me is something I’ve struggled with living with bi polar leading me to different forms of self medication but using music as an outlet has helped me conquer some of these demons. I hope anyone out there struggling can take something positive away from the song.”

Lyrics of “Potions” by Leap
Do you ever get lost looking too far beyond?
Wanna turn it all off, its easier said than done
When you talk at that pace you know I can’t play along
When the river runs dry its all about holding on

Ill take a drop in the ocean, feel it run down of my face
You already know where I’m going
Been walking for days, slipping away

Out for the potions, they controlling us
The devotion nearly broken us
Is it worth all the love you give?
Getting burnt for the perfect fix
Burnt for the perfect fix

I spent six long days waiting on a gold rush
Keep rubbing those eyes, pray its not one of us
But you’re lonely inside, know its not quite enough
Keep re-living those lies for one more night of love

Nobody knows when you’re broken, I’m only one step away
You already know where I’m going
Been walking for days, slipping away

Out for the potions, they controlling us
The devotion nearly broken us
Is it worth all the love you give?
Getting burnt for the perfect fix
Burnt for the perfect fix

Was it worth it? Was it worth all the love you give?
Was it worth it ? Was it worth all the love you give?
Getting burnt for the perfect fix
