“Drawn Together” by Cog – A Song Feature

Every aspect of “Drawn Together” testifies to its intelligence. The song from Cog is aggressive but embraces its visits to comparative serenity. After a slow-building intro, the percussion leads the charge and a guitar willingly provides support. Later (2:12), the power of the electric guitar is temporarily unseated by an acoustic guitar supporting vocals reminiscent of Jon Anderson during his early Progressive Rock tenure with Yes.

Cog is the trio of Flynn Gower (vocals, guitar), Lucius Borich (drums), and Luke Gower (bass). The band is based in Bondi Beach, NSW Australia (a short distance from Sydney). Quoting content around their latest release:
“With ascendant harmonies and perception shattering changes, ‘Drawn Together’ draws on the intrinsic value in social connection to break through modern misdirection and offer solidarity via determined riffs and compassionate declarations. Unreserved in its conviction, ‘Drawn Together’ follows on the success of The Middle which was released last year to critical acclaim and significant radio play on national broadcaster Triple J.”
