“Common Tongue” by Social Contract – A Song Feature

Ignoring the niceties of a smooth intro, Social Contract begins the song with a guitar assault. “Common Tongue” is an assault against the argument that Guitar Rock has been silenced.

“Common Tongue” features Shogaze and incorporates other attractive approaches. For example, beginning with the bridge at 2:12, the guitar plucking brings Bombay Bicycle Club (“Lights Out, Words Gone”) to mind, while the final minute is more aligned with the Southern Rock fusions of multiple lead guitars (The Outlaws).

Social Contract is from South London. The band was founded by guitarist/vocalist Josh Eggerton and guitarist Scott Roach. They later added Bisque Wemyss (drums) and Chris Coward (bass).
