“Origins” by Belle Mt – A Song Feature

“Origins” describes a love relationship in a poetic manner. Both the lyrics and the instrumental support possess an intricacy and intimacy that distinguish the song from others that are worthy of praise.

Belle Mt is a London trio. They are Matt Belmont (vocals, guitar, piano), Ben Worsley (electric guitar, bass, synth, vocal harmonies), and Chris Burgess (drums, SPD trigger pads, vocal harmonies). Quoting the band’s bio:
Belle Mt. [spoken bell-mont] is a project conceived by songwriter and lead singer Matt Belmont during a period of withdrawal from public performances and releases between 2014 and 2016. During this time, he dedicated himself to introspective periods of songwriting development, beginning a musical and geographical journey as he wrote, co-wrote and produced.

Lyrics of “Origins” by Belle Mt
You’re always trying to put things right
I always fight to win the fight
At any cost, at any price
One of the many flaws of mine

And I don’t tell you quite enough
How many of the things I love
Trace a path right back to you
And the origins of us

In just a matter of minutes
Just a matter of time
When we’re only dancing on a lifeline
And it’s the fate of the living
To be gone in a minute

Oh we could save ourselves and run
Or we could stay right here and hold on
Throw to the fire all the things that we’ve done
Don’t fight the war, love, nobody wins
And nobody won

I took a turn and caused a wreck
It was my fault, in that respect
Nothing you've ever done or said
Has caused a damage like I left

And I had never been so close
To breaking through the paper walls
Nobody ever wants to know
That there's an end to every show

In just a matter of minutes
Just a matter of time
When we’re only dancing on a lifeline
And it’s the fate of the living
To be gone in a minute

Oh we could save ourselves and run
Or we could stay right here and hold on
Throw to the fire all the things that we’ve done
Don’t fight the war, love, nobody wins
And this time nobody won
[Repeat]

You’re always trying to put things right!
