Exposing a Vulnerability to Songs Featuring Choirs

We are easily lured into a song that features a choir or that skillfully uses crescendos. The choir is particularly appealing if it is comprised of either youth or gospel singers. “What Do I Know” employs crescendos and is earmarked by a gospel-like choir. David Gramberg adds piano as yet another draw to his single.

The first crescendo in “What Do I Know” starts 35 seconds into the single. The more prolonged build occurs at 2:54, after a short piano solo.

Lyrics of “What Do I Know” by David Gramberg

I put my trust into your hands

Wherever you may take me, I'll take the chance

Cause all my faith was going to die

And all my tears've been running dry

What do I know?

Stakes are high, ceiling's low

Try to cut me down and bigger I'll grow

Cause all my faith was going to die

And all my tears've been running dry

What do I know? I know

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know

What sweet a taste there in my mouth

Can't wait to climb the roofs and shout

How could you let me go?

How could you let me fall?

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know

Who knew? Who knew? Who knew? Who knew?

Who knew? Who knew? Who knew? Who knew?

Who knew? Who knew? Who knew? Who knew?

Who knew? Who knew? Who knew? Who knew?

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know - anything

What do I know? I don't know, I don't know

“Hello Dreamer Baby” doesn’t include a choir. Rather, the female choir-like vocals are achieved using overdubbing. The Royal Foundry is a Canadian Indie-Alt-Pop band anchored by husband and wife Jared Salte and Beth Schumacher, along with touring band members Robbie Szabo and Jeremy Dehek. They are based in Sherman Park in Alberto, Canada.

In talking about the single, the band said:

"You are made to be that which you dream to be. No matter how you get there, who you meet along the way, or how many detours it takes – it will always be waiting for you, so try and try and try and try. This is the ethos behind our new single, 'Hello Dreamer Baby,' written after we took a spontaneous road trip and discussed our dreams, goals, and our desire to accomplish them in the now.

It's so easy to quit and just live with mediocrity, but this life is short so why would you not want to be the best you can be? We wrote "Hello Dreamer Baby" for us, but we hope it resonates with you too."

Lyrics of “Hello Dreamer Baby” by The Royal Foundry

Run, Run, Run… [Chanting]

I wake up in the morning with nothing to show

I’ve never been good with sharing my emotions

Will we ever get these things right?

We keep trying, trying, trying

This is fight or flight

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

People just see what they wanna see

But you and me we see differently

Hello, Dreamer, Baby We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

Golden, Hours fading We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

Whatever I do, I wanna do it with you

You’re all that I want, I swear to God that’s the truth

I know we’re gonna get things right

Cause we try and try and try

Try and try and try and…

Hello, Dreamer, Baby We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

Golden, Hours fading We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

We’ll never settle

Forever a rebel

We’ll never settle

Forever a rebel

Hello, Dreamer, Baby We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

Golden, Hours fading We were made to run

So we run and we run and we don’t look back

We do what we’re told but we’re going mad

[Repeat]

Hello, Dreamer, Baby
