“Loyal” is a nearly continuously evolving single that seamlessly weaves attractive passages into a captivating musical gem. The song from RAEYA shifts, but carries sophistication throughout its almost four minutes.
“Loyal” begins with clean, high frequency guitars and soaring vocals, as if Beach House were asked to support Aurora. Soon, the percussion enters with an aggressiveness and rhythm that shouldn’t sound well matched to the purity of the vocals and elegance of the guitars. Yet, it works well. While still within the first minute, the chorus enters in the form of overdubbing of RAEYA’s voice. The aggressive percussion continuous during the chorus, with other instruments entering and taking an orchestral approach. For example, the delicacy of a harp may be heard at times.
RAEYA the performance name of Sheree Pantuso, who majored in music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is now based in Southern California. "Loyal" is a single from her five-track EP "Make You Feel."
