Here are the favorite songs from the 2019 posts of Indie Obsessive. The list reflects the blog's focus - Indie artists on the rise. Indie Obsessive has a bias towards bands that deserve more attention than they are currently receiving. Therefore, this is a list of “favorite” songs. If we ranked the “best” songs of 2019, there would be some changes.
One more note: the qualification for the "2019 list' is based on when we discovered the song. With only a few exceptions, the songs were released in 2019. Those few bands with late-2018 releases welcome the additional exposure, so we don't feel badly.
There isn’t a member of the Indie Obsessive staff who identifies with “song covers.” So, it is surprising to find three in this year’s list of favorites, including #1 by Manchester Orchestra (which is a Frightened Rabbits cover). The other two are Nirvana’s “Smells like Teen Spirit (by Saint Mesa) and No Doubts’ “Just a Girl” (by Tuvaband).
