Cleanin’ Out My Closet (of Deserving Songs) – June 2020 Version

We periodically look at the songs that are listed for posting but have undeservedly remained on the list for too long. Assuming we still find the songs blogworthy, we dedicate a post to them, although they may be in very different genres. Today, it’s time to clean out the closet.

MOSES is a London-based band comprising Matthew McCrilly (drums), Luke Fitzwalter (guitar), James Creighton (bass) and Victor M. Moses (vocals).

KOJ is formed of two brothers and the wife of one – Nils, Alina and Simon Alina von der Gathen. They are in Muenster, Germany. While explaining their single:
“Thunder” talks about those sudden changes in life that you didn’t anticipate. It’s the feeling of being completely fine one minute and next thing you know, you feel like your whole world is collapsing. Those moments that feel like a storm that is rolling in so quickly that you didn’t even have the time to prepare yourself for what’s to come. Almost mockingly and in stark contrast to the theme of the song, the music feels very light and up-tempo and more like a dance track. Thunder thrives on the interplay of these two opposing forces.

Thank you to Chris Adams for alerting us to Palaye Royale.

Staying with trios with a single last name, Palaye Royale are three brothers from Canada who are now in Las Vegas. The legal names all include Kroop, but each member uses a performance last name that is based upon his middle name. They are Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig, and Emerson Barrett.

     We favor their song “Lonely;”
This song and video is extremely personal to me. As a child I was physically and mentally abused. Which caused me to become extremely depressed and suicidal. I always thought that I was the problem, that I must of done something so wrong to deserve that type of abuse from a person who was supposed to love me and didn’t see any other way out. It’s the reason I started wearing makeup because I thought if I looked like a different person, I would become a different person. A person that stands up for themselves. I somehow made it out alive and so grateful every day that I did. If you or anyone else that you know is going through something similar, please make a stand or be a friend because you could save a life.

Oracle Sisters are not another band of siblings. The Paris-based band includes two males and a female - Lewis Lazar, Christopher Willatt, and Julia Johansen.
