A guitar riff gently carries the listener through “Riverbank,” although the flow is interrupted by an ebb when the song from Pinewood has the feel of a song fadeout to its conclusion. The ebb occurs around two minutes into the single, then “Riverbank” returns to an increased emphasis on percussion.
The vocals of “Riverbank” are peaceful and nuanced. At times, Pinewood is joined by a female voice, such as prior to entering the mid-song partial fadeout. Pinewood is the performance name of Sam Kempe. He is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in Atlanta. “Riverbank” is on his debut EP “All Things With Symmetry.”
