Yes, but the thought devoted to the composition and the nuances within the execution of "Put Your Money on Me” distinguish the song from others that we enjoy having in our playlists.
The care given to the writing of "Put Your Money on Me” is apparent in the first twenty second. A synth ramp launches a “clean,” melodically pleasing guitar hook that is highly effective in hooking a listener’s attention. There is a risk in sparingly using an attention-grabber, but Night Traveler accepts the challenge. When the first verse arrives, the guitar exits. The vocals are strong and the combination of the percussion and bass offset the “loss” of the guitar. The exit of the attractive guitar hook and entrance of the vocals occurs again at 1:40. “Pursuing dreams takes so much sacrifice. It’s late nights, no sleep, financial risk, your loved one sleeping alone. And often, this burden falls on the people around you. ‘Put Your Money On Me’ is about asking the ones you love to hold on a little longer. To keep believing in you. It’s a song about looking them right in the eye and being damn sure when you say, ‘I’m not letting you down.’ We chose this track as the lead single because it's not what people would expect from us. In fact, it’s not what we expected. When we went into the studio, we never imagined this coming out. And that’s exciting to us. It has a new kind of energy to it.”
Night Traveler is Adam Fischer and Hunter Glaske in Austin, Texas. "Put Your Money on Me” is the first single from their upcoming album. For the album, they turned a lake house into a studio and allowed Andrew Shepherd (Needtobreathe/Dave Ramirez) to shot a documentary of the creative process. This single and others will be released with segments of the film.
