Visiting Some Old Friends

The songs in this post are recent releases by two artists who were praised by Indie Obsessive in the past.

David Ramirez is based in Austin, Texas. When talking about "I Wanna Live In Your Bedroom," he said:
"This is easily the most romantic song I’ve ever written. I was sitting on my lover’s bed looking around at all the perfectly curated pieces in her room. Everything was so intentional and held a story and a place in her heart. I wanted to be one of those pieces. I wrote this and played it live for a year before going in the studio, so I was incredibly attached and very particular with how I wanted it to come across. We ended up tracking it five different times until finally realizing it needed to be simple and sweet. It was written just minutes after waking up on a hazy fall day. How sweet and simple is love in that moment?"

We particularly love the close of "I Wanna Live In Your Bedroom," when David Ramirez is joined by others.

Lyrics of "I Wanna Live In Your Bedroom" by David Ramirez
She’s beginning to see it
It’s getting pretty obvious
It’s no longer a secret
I’m losing confidence

I’ve had one too many
I should’ve gone to bed
She’s looking right at me
She’s in my head

Take me home tonight
I’m all yours
I don’t wanna party anymore
Dress me your clothes
Drown me in your pool
I wanna live in your bedroom

You know just what you’re doing
Wearing that tiny skirt
But you have no idea
How much this hurts

Take me home tonight
I’m all yours
I don’t wanna party anymore
Dress me your clothes
Drown me in your pool
I wanna live in your bedroom

I wanna live
I wanna live in your bedroom

Passenger is Mike Rosenberg from Brighton, UK. He explains “The Way That I Love You:”
"I wrote it a little while ago for my girlfriend . At the time it just felt like a really sweet love song but unfortunately a few weeks later we ended up breaking up. It was only then that I realised that it wasn’t just a love song but perhaps subconsciously my way of saying goodbye. I hope this song helps anyone who has been through something similar, I hope it comforts you if you can’t be with the people you love at this time."

Lyrics of “The Way That I Love You” by Passenger
How many times can I tell you
You're lovely just the way you are
Don't let the world come and change you
Don't let life break your heart

Don't put on their mask
Don't wear their disguise
Don't let them dim the light that shines in your eyes
If only you could love yourself the way that I love you

How many times can I say
You don't have to change a thing
Don't let the tide wash you away
Don't let worry ever clip your wings

Discard what is fake
Keep what is real
Pursue what you love, embrace how you feel
If only you could love yourself the way that I love you

And if you ever choose a road that leads nowhere
All alone and you can't see right from wrong
And if you ever lose yourself out there
Come on home and I'll sing you this song

So how many times can I tell you
You're lovely just the way you are
Don't let the world come and change you
Don't let life break your heart
