“Heavenly War” by Sea Girls – A Song Review

The energy throughout “Heavenly War” is undeniably infectious, but it’s not until near the end that all guns are ablaze. Sea Girls saves their best guitar hook for the final 36 seconds (starting at 3:13). The energetic track hits yet another gear.

Sea Girls is a UK band that generates a blend of Rock and Guitar-Pop. But after a short intro, “Heavenly War” employs a strong bass line and percussion to support vocals as the premise of the track is established. As he now recognizes, his relationship at the age of 18 is the one that matters. According to the band, “This song is about that weirdly exciting but quite difficult conflict of feelings and events that makes our lives worth living. Ultimately describing that moment when you feel the best about life. I think it’s a really positive message.”

Sea Girls are Henry Camamile (vocals, guitar), Rory Young (guitar), Andrew Noswad (bass), and Oli Khan (drums). The roles have changed since Sea Girls began in 2015 and, according to Henry, their sound has shifted and developed along with the shifting roles. Their goal is to constantly improve, allowing Sea Girls to generate diverse, interesting albums. The band is based in London, but their Facebook page identifies their hometown as Lincolnshire // Rutland // Leicestershire // Kent.

Lyrics of “Heavenly War” by Sea Girls
When I was 18, I started going out
With the girl the boys used to shout about
And I'm still hung upon her
Left to the bottom of her stare

Although
The light’s gone out
I crave the shape, the taste of her mouth
So, I hang on every word
Let go, come back down to earth

So, what you wanna stay for
It's not a dance floor
You'll end up spinning in a heavenly war
What you wanna stay for, what?
What you wanna stay for

When I was 18, oh I started going out
With the girl the boys used to shout about
But my bed, and built for two
Not just me and you

So, what you wanna stay for
It's not a dance floor
You'll end up spinning in a heavenly war
What you wanna stay for, what

But if I could, I would
And if you want to, you should
And I could seize the night
Maybe us still worth the fight

My cold heart is a key
That you can keep safe me
You know where to find me
My cold heart is a key
That you can keep safe me
And know where to find me

Oh, what you wanna stay for
It's not a dance floor
You'll end up spinning in a heavenly war
What you wanna stay for, what
What you wanna stay for
What you wanna stay for, what

Oh, if I could, I would
And if you want to, you should
And I could seize the night
Maybe us still worth the fight

If it’s ever going to go my way
You’ll be coming right back to my place
We’ve been here before
I want more
Let’s get lost in this heavenly war

And if I could, you should
You should
You should
You should
