“Happy New Year” and "Summer Sadness" by Soft Loft – Song Features

The vocals radiate a charisma that is consistent throughout “Happy New Year,” but the rhythm shapes the primary attraction in the early portion. The inviting percussion and robust bass line come together as a rhythm section that steers a lively course through an otherwise unpleasant situation. The song's title is deceptive; the lyrics do not offer an optimistic welcome to a new 12-month period. Instead, "Happy New Year" delves into the aftermath of a failed relationship following a move from a small-town existence. The accumulated missteps will continue to cast negative effects into the upcoming year.

The press materials relating to the release of the song state:
“Soft Loft is back with a new single, a bouncy breakup sing-along called 'Happy New Year.' This time, it's all about the attitude. The way the tune pushes through, shoulders back, elbows out, you could almost imagine it working a CBGB's-type crowd into a wild frenzy. The song paints a picture of a small-town couple chasing their dreams all the way to a big city, only to lose everything along the way, including themselves.”

Instrumentally, the reign of the rhythm section is temporarily interrupted when the song reaches the bridge (around 2:30). It’s then that the mixing shifts to place the spotlight on guitars. Partially through the bridge, the backing guitar pivots to Shoegaze sensibilities. Adding to the appeal of the Soft Loft song, the transition from the bridge features interesting effects.

The members of Soft Loft are Jorina Stamm (vocals, guitar), Lukas Kuprecht (drums), Marius Meier (bass), Sarina Schmid (keys, backing vocals), and Simon Boss (guitar). They are based in Switzerland. Gianluca Buccelatti performed the production for “Happy New Year.” It is a single from their forthcoming debut album titled “The Party and the Mess.”

Soft Loft excels at releases that are melodically upbeat and lyrically downbeat. “Summer Sadness” is included in this post. The song was made available in October 2023. The melody is bouncy, while Jorina Stamm pleas “Let's hope it's summer sadness and it will pass // Cause I won't be in for another shit winter to get past.”

Lyrics of “Happy New Year” by Soft Loft
And I came in from a small town
But you wanted all the big stuff
You could never be alone somehow
No knowledge of all distress
And you screwed us like some mistress
I never meant to scare your highs

Wanting of knowing
Knowing of wanting
Wanting of knowing
Knowing of wanting

Happy new year
And it all went down
You said you‘d never leave
Who do you get high on now?
You said you couldn‘t breathe
How is the air feeling now?

Happy new year
And it all went down
You said you‘d never leave
Who do you get high on now?
You said you couldn‘t breathe
How is the air feeling now?

You’re locked up in your small house
And I wanna skip the whole part
Unmeet you right from above the stage view
Your mess is trouble simply made by you
I thought you’re someone to rely on
So why’d you bring them lies on?
We’re guilty on how it all blew off

Wanting of knowing
Knowing of wanting
Wanting of knowing
Knowing of wanting

Happy new year
And it all went down
You said you‘d never leave
Who do you get high on now?
You said you couldn‘t breathe
How is the air feeling now?

Happy new year
And it all went down
You said you‘d never leave
Who do you get high on now?
You said you couldn‘t breathe
How is the air feeling now?

[Instrumental Bridge]

Happy new year
And it all went down
You said you‘d never leave
Who do you get high on now?
You said you couldn‘t breathe
How is the air feeling now?

          “Summer Sadness” by Soft Loft

Lyrics of “Summer Sadness” by Soft Loft
I'm at a very bad place with myself right now
I can hardly get any sleep at night
But I won't cry it's just I'm not in the best mood for now won't lie
It's just a really sad time now, a really sad time now

A couple of years ago I used to get high then
But that didn't help it just made more unwell
I'm not sure who to tell
I can't stand just small crowds get too loud
It's just a very mad time now, a very mad time now

Let's hope it's summer sadness and it will pass
Cause I won't be in for another shit winter to get past

Some woman told me I'm fine
You just need some fresh air
Don't be mad get your vitamin levels up
What a lie give me time
Oh to be sad I'm not mad
It's just a very sad time now, a very sad time now
A very sad time now, a very sad time now

Let's hope its summer sadness and it will pass
Cause I won't be in for another shit winter to get past
Ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba
Let's hope its summer sadness and it will pass
Cause I won't be in for another shit winter to get past

“Get It Right” by My Heart is a Metronome – A Song Feature

Despite the skillful and diverse instrumentation, it's fair to characterize "Get It Right" as a vocally driven track. The vocals compellingly deliver lyrics that invite interpretation, a characteristic often found in songs that gain greater impact with repeated listens. While we are sure that there are flaws, our best understanding of the lyrics is included at the bottom of this post. Despite the subjectivity in both wording and meaning, the unwavering vocal commitment undeniably underscores the gravity and sincerity of the lyrics.

My Heart Is a Metronome does provide insight into their song:
"’Get It Right’" is a song that emerged from a particularly eventful night out, following a gig that left one of the band members, Mattis, with a story to tell. It's a unique mix of bikers and love, and as the band explains, "This song came about after a long night out on the town after a gig where Mattis got his ass kicked by bikers in the toilet line. It's also about love dying though, so it's kind of a strange mix of bikers and love. Not that there's anything wrong with that!"

The band is based in Uppsala, Sweden. The members are Gustaf Simonsson (bass), Mattis Malinen (vocals, guitar), and Felix Carlsten (drums). My Heart Is a Metronome are preparing to release their debut album in the spring of 2024. Jakob Grundtman, who worked on Tallest Man on Earth and Francis, will produce and mix the album, with mastering being provided by Sören von Malmborg, who worked with Coldplay, Sia, and Avicii. Based upon “Get It Right,” the album promises to feature a mature and rich sound that takes advantage of the individual skills of the three musicians.

Our favorite segment of “Get It Right” begins around the 1:45 mark. During the time that the question “Are We Finally?” is repeated three times, the song crescendos. Soon after the intensity peaks, there is a drop into the chorus. The band’s description of their song is interesting:
Musically, ‘Get It Right’ has a distinct character. The song has a darker, almost sacred sound, with verses featuring a gritty funky Daft Punk-style bassline that builds up to more bombastic choruses. These choruses are adorned with Running Up That Hill-style drums, layered with a guitar played with a bow, akin to a cello. The result is a captivating production that the band is genuinely pleased with.”

Lyrics of “Get It Right” by My Heart is a Metronome (flawed)
I think you know when the feeling's sad
I think you know when you get it right
I think we're finally gonna get it right
Ah ooo, ah ooo

Cause I can feel it building up
And though I'm scared of it coming down
I think we're finally gonna get it right
Ah ooo, ah ooo

I was high with the angels, they
Didn't even say bye
Left me there with the tears in my eyes
Rolling down
Such a pleasant surprise

I know the locks, so I forged to key
It's either you, me, you or me
We're not some distant memory
Ah ooo, ah ooo

So hear me screaming what I want
And feeling what I should
It’s all a fog, but I think we could
Ah ooo, ah ooo

Simple questions lingering
It’s one I hear you whispering
I think I’m finally putting up a fight

Know that every passing year
Bringing distance to the fear
I think we're finally gonna get it right

I was high with the angels, they
Didn't even say bye
Left me there with the tears in my eyes
Rolling down
Such a pleasant surprise

Are we finally?
Are we finally?
Are we finally?

I was high with the angels, they
Didn't even say bye
Left me there with the tears in my eyes
Rolling down
Such a pleasant surprise

I was high with the angels, they
Didn't even say bye
Left me there with the tears in my eyes
Rolling down
Such a pleasant surprise

Left me there with the tears in my eyes
Rolling down
Such a pleasant surprise

“November” by Cloudbelly – A Song Feature

Cloudbelly skillfully weaves its creativity into classic Indie Folk elements, resulting in "November," a song that boasts an infectious and enchanting bounce. For example, the intro features cyclic acoustic guitar and subtle percussion that combine to define a rhythm that is characteristic of much of “November.” The intro also includes an electric guitar, but it isn’t played in a conventional manner. Rather, a bow is employed to craft the atmospheric melody that accompanies the rhythm. Later, the bow takes a hiatus, and the electric guitar is played in a standard manner. However, the bow is reintroduced as the song advances.

In "November," the vocal charm extends beyond the lead vocals, although they possess the allure to stand alone. Indie Obsessive has consistently appreciated the use of selective backing vocals, where layering is often employed for just a few words. The backing vocals make their first notable appearance around the 47-second mark, harmonizing with the lead vocals on "Teach me mercy, cold November," after which the song’s intensity takes an upward jump.

In talking about the song, Cloudbelly explained:
"’November’ is a yearning, exuberant indie-folk ode to precarious love and the emptiness it leaves behind. Melancholic strings and bowed guitar dance above a rollicking train rhythm, giving the track a wistful momentum like a celebratory funeral march.”

The Bandcamp site for “November” lists the song’s credits. The first four individuals on the list comprise Cloudbelly, which is based in Montague, Massachusetts:
-Corey Laitman: songwriting, vocals, acoustic guitar
-Sam Perry: songwriting, electric guitar, backing vocals
-Reed Sutherland: songwriting, engineering, piano, wurlitzer, OP-1, organ, electric bass
-Nate Mondschein: production, engineering, songwriting, string
arrangement, drums, percussion, loops, beatmaking, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, synthesizer, mellotron

-Cynthia Tolson: strings
-Andrew Oedel: engineering, mixing
-Anni Casella: mastering

Cloudbelly is scheduled to release its sophomore record in February 2024. The title will be “i know i know i know.” The band explains, “The album’s title (drawn from the chorus of the second single “Handfuls”) points to that knife’s edge divide, between the understanding of the way things are, and the seeming impossibility of embracing it. i know i know i know––acceptance and hesitation packaged in a single turn of phrase. It’s about confronting the fact that when it comes to healing and recovery, we are both the poison and the medicine. It’s about being present with the parts of ourselves that are in pain.”

Lyrics of “November” by Cloudbelly
Old November, haven’t seen you in a year
Old friend, you carve the space between my ears
Into a cavern, clamoring with birds
Their feathers - softest sound I ever heard

Say my love’s marked “return to sender”
Teach me mercy, cold November

Hungry lungs, my love’s the space between the notes
I meant them, every word I ever spoke
Your longing launched a symphony of leaves
That fevered sunlight brought me to my knees –
To remember, I surrender
Bless this hot mess, cold November

Love, you’re worried – I can read it in your brow
You’re ten feet under, but can’t remember how
Your shoulders drove the blade into the earth
But can you blame them, not knowing what you’re worth?

Hold your own hand. Feel how tender.
We can make it past November

“The Ashes” by Belle Mt. – A Song Feature

Belle Mt. excels at progressively building a song’s intensity and texture. A release from the trio might begin with an intimacy founded on engaging vocals and sparse instrumentation, but the song isn’t likely to simply linger in its initial allure. “The Ashes” starts with delicate piano and emotive vocals. As the track progresses, the introduction of various instruments is timed to complement the song's atmosphere. We specifically highlight the segment that begins around the two-minute mark and reaches its peak 45 seconds later. As the song nears its end, it returns to its origin of piano and vocals.

The vocals, piano and acoustic guitar on “The Ashes” are provided by Matt Belmont. Ben Worsley contributes guitar and bass, while Chris Burgess is the percussionist/drummer. In addition, Belle Mt, recruited Kirsty Mangan for the string arrangement.

The shifts in the posture of the lyrics and vocals are perhaps even more noteworthy than those of the instrumentation. At the outset of “The Ashes,” a relationship-gone-wrong is described with a calmness that conveys an acceptance of finality – “There’s a fire in this house // And there’s no one left to notice with the breath to put it out.” In a later verse, the vocals convey some hope for a positive effect. The verse is repeated more powerfully starting at the 2:45 mark – “But maybe in the ashes we will find the meaning // And maybe as they scatter, they’ll lead us to the healing.” But the hopefulness does not last long, as the next verse begins “But I don’t think I’m learning // And I don’t think we changed // Now we know that wisdom never really came with age.” The vocal posture may shift and the instrument texturing may vary, but the intelligence in the lyrics is a constant and the abilities of the vocals to embrace the lyrics and emit the emotion remain undeniable.

Matt Belmont explained the song as follows:
’The Ashes’ was inspired by watching a close friend go through the dramatic breakdown of a long term relationship. I was the person my friend turned to in that moment and I ended up being right there in the trenches with them throughout, witnessing all the collateral damage and far reaching effects first hand. Right in the midst of it I sat at the piano in a writing session with Jessica Sharman and we created a song which encapsulates all of that. Love, heartbreak, confusion, pain, and conflicted state of mind. Stay or leave? Love or hate?”

     Belmont added:
Of all the songs on the album the production of this one stayed true to the blueprint set out in my original demo which was created at that time. We even ended up using all of the original demo vocals in the final mix rather than replacing with new takes, as it was impossible to beat the raw emotion. We love how it turned out.”

Lyrics of “The Ashes” by Belle Mt
There’s a fire in this house
And there’s no one left to notice with the breath to put it out
There’s a weakness in these walls
And the truth hides in the echoes and the whispers in the halls

Saying all we’ve ever known we learned here…

There’s a smoke that fills our lungs
And we suffer in the silence wondering why we didn’t run
Feel the cracks let out the heat
Stealing all the oxygen forbidding us to speak

Still all we’ve ever known we learned here
And all we thought was home will burn here

But maybe in the ashes we will find the meaning
And maybe as they scatter they’ll lead us to the healing
Waking in a fever the daylight is deceiving
And darling though you woke me hard we’d been oversleeping
Everything that’s burning… was everything to us

There’s a fire you tried to hide
But you let it in our home
You tainted everything inside
Though the mess cannot be seen
I’m still standing in the wreckage
I’m still longing for a piece of

All we’ve ever known and learned here
‘Cause all we thought was home will burn here

But maybe in the ashes we will find the meaning
and maybe as they scatter they’ll lead us to the healing
Waking in a fever the daylight is deceiving
And darlin though you woke me hard we’d been oversleeping

But I don’t think I’m learning
And I don’t think we changed
Now we know that wisdom never really came with age
And everytime I think that maybe we could put it out
Everytime I try to fight the fire in this house
Well my mind paints a picture ‘cause my mind’s never free
My mind shows the things that my eyes weren’t supposed to see

There’s a fire in this house
And there’s no one left to notice with the breath to put it out.

“Second Sight” by Bad Tiger – A Song Feature

The standout feature of "Second Sight" lies in its captivatingly layered vocals. The two vocal tracks seamlessly weave melodic harmony, although with differing tones. That is, the predominant voice exudes emotional depth with a matter-of-fact groundedness, in contrast to the airy, ethereal tone of the accompanying voice. We suspect that both voices belong to Yasi Lowy, the founder of Bad Tiger.

Instrumentally, we commend the percussion in "Second Sight." Despite the track's melodic and gentle flow, the drummer is granted creative liberty, injecting a subtle unpredictability without derailing the overall melody. This sense of freedom and unexpectedness is foreshadowed in the first seven seconds of the song. The song begins with a somewhat chaotic collection of sounds, primarily led by percussion. Still, it’s the drums that provide the transition to the melody.

Bad Tiger is a San Francisco Bay Area-based band made up of Yasi Lowy (vocals, guitar), David Garges (guitar, synth, vocals), Tyler Gholson (bass), and Jacob Sherfield (drums). “Second Sight” is a single that will reside on the band’s album “Bliss” which is scheduled for release on February 2, 2024.

Another early track release from “Bliss” is “Enough.” The song includes a clarinet, which is not a common Indie instrument. During the early opportunities to listen to “Enough,” the lyrics seem straightforward and uncomplicated. But with additional opportunities, the intelligence within the lyrics surfaces. The song looks at a relationship and asks:
But what if I don’t wanna grow anymore?
Haven’t I done enough
To just grow old with you,
Instead of getting up and leaving to come home to you
If you’re still there?

     “Second Sight” by Bad Tiger

Lyrics of “Second Sight” by Bad Tiger
If I saw me the way you do, would I see that I'm someone?
Would I see it like I see the sun?
If it hurts your eyes, look away
Sometimes it's easy like that, finding pain's just bad

I don't want you to be lonely any more
So I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
Then I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
Then I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
What I don't wanna look at

If I saw the world the way you do, could I learn to be more fun?
Move lightly in the wind, in the sun
Or would I find a way to stay stuck through and through?
Even with a second sight, keep hold too tight

I don't want to be lonely any more
So I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
Then I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
Then I gotta look right at what I don't wanna look at
Well I don't wanna look at

     “Enough” by Bad Tiger

Lyrics of “Enough” by Bad Tiger
Tires pumping to your place
And I feel my heart will break
Just to see this moment pass
Become something else
Some memory that fades with the rest

I can’t bear to love you this much
When there’s no way not to fuck it up
Cause there’s no way to thank you enough

What if I don’t wanna go anymore?
Haven’t I done enough
To just grow old with you
Instead of getting up and leaving to come home to you
If you’re still there?

Pulling tarot, hanging on to the signs I can find
To not be so scared of a good thing
Of the future
Of our lives all intertwining.

But what if I don’t wanna grow anymore?
Haven’t I done enough
To just grow old with you,
Instead of getting up and leaving to come home to you
If you’re still there

“Executioner's Song” by Blueburst – A Song Feature

In “Executioner's Song,” Blueburst touches the news, the literature, and the guitar style of the 1970s. The song shares the title of a Norman Mailer true crime novel about events relating to the firing squad execution of Gary Gilmore. Gilmore’s story was remarkable because he led the fight for his 1977 execution, and he selected the method. Gilmore asserted that any discussions about his ability to turn his life around were not based in reality. He previously had been jailed for 13 years, and was not “rehabilitated.” The lyrics of the Blueburst song are in the first person, with Gilmore explaining:
I never got well, I never got right
Cause I never wanted to give up this fight
Against no one, everyone, anyone I could find

From the musical perspective, “Executioner's Song” captures the guitar virtuosity style that had its heyday during the 70s. Slightly less than 10 seconds into the song, the guitar layering is most reminiscent of the influential Southern Rock band Outlaws. In particular, we hear the style of the Outlaws’ “Green Grass and High Tides.”

Blueburst is driven by guitarist/vocalist Craig Douglas Miller, who revitalized his career after connecting with guitarist Marty Willson-Piper of The Church (and Noctorum). For “Executioner's Song,” Miller and Wilson-Piper are the guitarists, while Miller provides the vocals. The bassist is Ryan Kelly (Dayroom) and the drummer is Michael Jerome (Better than Ezra, John Cale). “Executioner's Song” is one of 11 tracks on Blueburst’s recently released album “Significance.” The album is available via the Bandcamp site identified in this post, as well as the other typical sources.

Lyrics of “Executioner's Song” by Blueburst
I am my own father
My own right hand
Don’t lead this horse to water
Don’t make demands

Cause I wasn’t made for this kind of ride
I can’t get on board, I can’t pick a side
I won’t let you mold me in this cage.

So, lightning crackles, sparks they fly around me
So, light this candle, cure my life of travesty

Everyone gather ‘round now to watch me die
Don’t tell me you don’t know that it’s the best thing for you and I

I spit on your morals
Ignored them all
I stood on my laurels
And didn’t see the wall

I never got well, I never got right
Cause I never wanted to give up this fight
Against no one, everyone, anyone I could find

So lightning crackles, sparks they fly around me
So light this candle, cure my life of travesty

Everyone gather ‘round now to watch me die
Don’t tell me you don’t know that it’s the best thing for you and I

I’m on fire, now it’s over

Everyone gather ‘round now and watch me die
Don’t tell me you don’t know that it’s the best thing for you and I

Everyone gather ‘round now to see my last ride
Maybe you’ll see me someday in another life

“Better Way To Think Of It” by The Manatees – A Song Feature

The bio on The Manatees' website highlights three key influences: Jungle, Wolf Alice, and The Strokes. Nevertheless, during “Better Way To Think Of It,” the band seems to draw inspiration from the formula of a fourth influential group, MGMT. However, The Manatees adeptly manipulate the elements within the formula, crafting a unique sound that distinguishes them from their contemporaries.

The MGMT influence first surfaces 18 seconds into “Better Way To Think Of It,” when a synth dives deep into the frequency spectrum to produce soundwaves that are well suited to vibrate rib cages in a live performance. This portion of the song is reminiscent of MGMT’s “Time to Pretend” and “Kids.” And other contributions to The Manatees’ track provide playful frequency contrast. Our favorite is the non-complex but highly appealing guitar notes that are heard at 1:27 and at 1:35. The guitar notes are in an octave distant from that of the foundation bass synth.

In explaining the song, The Manatees said, "‘Better Way to Think Of It’ delves into the complexities experienced in a relationship strained by distance." The lyrics of the track are included at the bottom of this post. The band refers to the song as “a guilty pleasure for us, a modern indie ear worm that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”

The band originated in a sleepy town on the south coast of Englandshire, but is now based in London. The three members are Jay Harris (vocals, bass), Tyler Bloor (guitar), and James Miller (guitar). The credits for “Better Way to Think Of It” also name Jay Frost (drums), Anna Ryan (backing vocals), Dom Mitchison (programming), and Tarek Musa (programming).

“Better Way To Think Of It” by The Manatees

Lyrics of “Better Way To Think Of It” by The Manatees
I miss you more than most on nights like this,
When morning comes and I can’t feel your kisses.
You never really liked the busyness,
Suppose it comes with all the city cynics.

Can you feel your dreams fading?
Look me in the eyes as you say it.
I can take the truth if you’d be so cruel,
Sprinkle a little sugar so that I can chew.

I can’t find a better way to think of it,
Look inside yourself and you’ll remember when,
I can’t find a better way to think of it.

I hate the way the city lights scream at me,
Have another go cause before you know,
We’ll be running round like we’re animals,
Have another go before you lose control.

Can you feel your dreams fading?
Look me in the eyes as you say it.
I can take the truth if you’d be so cruel,
Sprinkle a little sugar so that I can chew.

I can’t find a better way to think of it,
Look inside yourself and you’ll remember when,
I can’t find a better way to think of it…

…Now, so what the hell were you thinking bout?
You’d make your mother so proud,
If you could clear your head out, head out, head out now.
So what the hell were you thinking bout?
You’d make your mother so proud,
If you could clear your head out, head out, head out.

I can’t find a better way to think of it,
Look inside yourself and you’ll remember when,
I can’t find a better way to think of it.

“Rose Colored” by Soft Loft – A Song Feature

The song inspires cheeriness and possesses the ability to lure listeners into moving to its rhythm, perhaps without them realizing it. While it is fair to categorize "Rose Colored" within the Pop genre, the song from Soft Loft carries a degree of sophistication that far surpasses the typical expectations associated with the genre. The lyrics are intelligently crafted and the instrumentation is well-conceived and well-executed.

As its name implies, “Rose Colored” is a song about optimism, “spitting in the face” of difficulty. At the Facebook page of Soft Loft, they explain:
“we‘ve been in love with this song for quite some time now and so happy to share it with you! ‘rose colored’ is about having a shit day but then entering a rose colored house, a space where everything is super duper mega great! so if you‘re having a shit time go to your very own rose colored house and turn it into something great.”

Instrumentally, the brief bridge, which begins around the 2:05 mark, is particularly enjoyable. The percussion includes “clicking” that is highly appealing despite the lack of complexity. Is it merely two drumsticks? At the same time, the guitars are hooky and the keys provide swirls.

The members of Soft Loft are Jorina Stamm (vocals, guitar), Lukas Kuprecht (drums), Marius Meier (bass), Sarina Schmid (keys, backing vocals), and Simon Boss (guitar). They are based in Switzerland. Gianluca Buccelatti performed the production for “Rose Colored.” It is the first single from their forthcoming debut album titled “The Party and the Mess.”

The bio of the band is interesting:
Soft Loft is a safe haven, an attitude, a way of life. It’s where the broken and the imperfect are embraced and celebrated. Soft Loft is non-hierarchical. Soft Loft is where reality is transmuted into dreams and dreams back into reality. Judgement is suspended here. Because vulnerability is the gateway to connection. Anything goes, as long as it’s heartfelt and it flows. Soft Loft is a collective of musicians dedicated to creating safe spaces using sound.

Lyrics of “Rose Colored” by Soft Loft
Lyon, the weather is poor
The room quite alright
The entrance hall impressive
The mood not so much
Can you build us up?
Can you build us up?

Lyon, the streets are filled
The traffic seems stressed
Or is it the people cursing
Out of their window
Can you build them up?
Can you build them up?

And now this mood in a rose colored house, a rose colored house
Can twist your mind around
This mood in a rose colored house, a rose colored house
Can twist your mind around
I wanna see you dance hey, hey
I wanna see us dance hey, hey

Imagine your beautiful curls
Being judged without cause
Stare as if it were a contest
You got this wrong
It’s out of your reach
This is out of your reach

Lyon, what happened to you?
Hiding parking in birds eye view oh oh oh
Can we build us up?
Can we build us up?

And now this mood in a rose colored house, a rose colored house
Can twist your mind around
This mood in a rose colored house, a rose colored house
Can twist your mind around
I wanna see you dance hey, hey
I wanna see us dance hey, hey
