“Dakota” by MOLTENO – A Song Feature

MOLTENO has a voice that is simultaneously delicate and commanding. That conflict is particularly powerful in “Dakota,” a song inspired by the protests concerned with the environmental impact of the Dakota Access Pipeline’s plan to transport crude oil across North and South Dakota. “'Dakota' explores the themes of water, the environment and ownership, contrasting purity with destruction.”

MOLTENO is London-based Jess Molteno. Her bio describes her genre as Atmospheric Dream Pop with flavours of Folk and Trip Hop. “Dakota” was produced by Hans Engstrom and Jan Oldaeus and was recorded in Manchester at Hope Mill Studios.
