“Vagabond” by Caamp – A Song Feature

With scarcely more than two minutes of infectious energy, the music of a fourth Athens comes to the posts of Indie Obsessive. The first three Athens-based bands were from Alabama (Alabama Shakes), Georgia (Family and Friends, Reptar, B-52s), and Greece (Brothers). “Vagabond” is a track of Caamp, a trio based from Athens, Ohio.

Caamp is Taylor Meier (guitar, lead vocals), Evan Westfall (Banjo, vocals), and Matt Vinson (bass, vocals). Quoting their bio:
“Started by boyhood friends Evan Westfall and Taylor Meier, Caamp came to life in Athens, Ohio. Taylor began penning and playing original songs at coffee shops around Athens in 2013. Evan moved down a couple of years later and together in a hazy attic, enjoying light beers, they would find the heartfelt sound that became Caamp. Since independently releasing their self-titled first record in 2016, they have climbed Spotify charts, headlined the US, purchased denim jackets and added a bass-playing buddy, Matt Vinson - who also enjoys light beers and denim. With their sophomore album ‘Boys’ on the horizon, the Ohioan folk trio have high hopes and no reservations.”

Caamp is scheduled to visit The Independent in San Francisco on November 2, 2018. The show is sold out – nicely done music fans in SF. For more tour dates and ticket information, go to http://www.caamptheband.com/tour/

Lyrics of “Vagabond” by Caamp
In the night while my body slept in my bed
My mind was running through the woods instead
One hundred miles an hour in the fast lane
One hundred miles an hour in my head

Vagabond dreamin’ takes me through the night
Sippin’ whiskey by the river living out of sight
One hundred miles an hour in the fast lane
One hundred miles an hour toward the light

See the curve in that river's bend
I look at you and I see my friend
One hundred miles an hour in the fast lane
One hundred miles an hour till the end

My heart does beat like a Cherokee drum
And in the morning when that sun does come
One hundred miles an hour in the fast lane
One hundred miles an hour in the fast lane
One hundred miles an hour till I'm dead
