Bluesy, brassy, bouncy and brilliant all apply to the debut single from Spooky Forest. “Find A Way” is a single that begins forcefully and finishes overpoweringly, as the final minute is driven by a steadily mounting crescendo.
The initial impression is that “Find A Way” is a single carried by a resolute-yet-pained voice and a rhythm section comprising a strong bass line and Indie handclaps. That’s before the brass enters, along with skillful guitar and higher octave backing vocals. “Find A Way” is the preview track of the debut album “Dragons Used To Live Here,” which is scheduled for release on October 22, 2019.
Quoting a description of the upcoming album:
Using a combination of samples, atypical sound design including found sounds and intensive layering combined with live instrumentation that was recorded in several studios including the band's own "Head Trauma" studio, Spooky Forest crafts a melody and lyric driven sound that is unburdened by normal genre constraints in Indie Rock. Based on biographical accounts of a troubled past, “Dragons Used To Live Here” is a deeply self-aware album, which teaches us to use the past as a map for awakening.
Spooky Forest is a Philadelphia band. The members are Jiah Pearson-Leary (vocals, guitar), William Cartley (drums, vocals), Warren Minnix (bass), and Sasank Ancha (guitar).
