Airborne Toxic Event at the Fillmore – A Concert Review

Bottom line concert review – The Airborne Toxic Event put on a show that removed any doubt as the wisdom of Yahoo! in its decision to stream the event. If there was a surprise during the evening, it was just how much we enjoyed the opening band, In the Valley Below.
The Friday performance was the second of three consecutive shows by The Airborne Toxic Event at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The focus of the first evening was on the band’s first album. The Friday show shifted the focus to the second album, “All at Once.” [It’s seems logical to presume the Saturday show will feature the songs from the 2013 album, “Such Hot Blood.”]
Our best guess at the sequence of songs is included toward the bottom of this post. Despite the emphasis on the second album, the band wasn’t going to disappoint the crowd by leaving “Sometime Around Midnight” from the performance. The song followed “Wrong,” which was premiered the night before. Unfortunately, it appears that Yahoo! made last night a one-time offer (based on the information at https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/airborne-toxic-event), so we cannot embed the Yahoo! recording. However, someone who attended the Thursday show did record “Wrong” for upload to Youtube. The volume taxed the capabilities of Jason's recording system, but we thank him for his work:

      “Sometime Around Midnight”

The Airborne Toxic Event is a Los Angeles band comprising Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Noah Harmon (bass, vocals), Daren Taylor (drums) and Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, vocals).
This is our best recollection of the order of songs played during the Friday performance:
1. “All at Once”
2. “Numb”
3. “Changing”
4. “All for a Woman”
5. “It Doesn't Mean a Thing”
6. “The Kids Are Ready to Die”
7. “Welcome to Your Wedding Day”
8. “Half of Something Else”
9. “Strange Girl”
10. “All I Ever Wanted”
11. “The Graveyard Near the House”
12 “A Letter to Georgia”
13. “Goodbye Horses”
14. “California”
15. “Safe”
16. “Wrong”
17. “Sometime Around Midnight”
Encore:
1. “Does This Mean You're Moving On? ”
2. “Happiness Is Overrated”
3. “Hell and Back”
4. “The Book of Love” (The Magnetic Fields cover)
5. “A medley of “Missy,” a drum solo and “I Fought The Law” (Bobby Fuller Four cover – 1966)

  3. What a wonderful song list it is. This is something I really love about events in New York. These events are so good that you enjoy a lot there and make some good memories. It seems they strive for perfection in every single thing.
