“Anything But Yourself” by Tom Greenwood – A Song Review

Like other blogs, the visit to Austin for SXSW has put us behind schedule in posting songs that deserve attention. It’s time to make the effort to get back on pace. Tom Greenwood is a good place to start.

“Anything But Yourself” is blogworthy for its guitar, although the vocals are a treat. It’s uncommon to hear an emphasis on shoegaze after hitting “Play” for a song attributed to a person. That is, there isn’t an expectation of shoegaze guitar upon seeing the name Tom Greenwood. The expectation is more aligned with a singer/songwriter holding an acoustic guitar. But Greenwood surprises the listener.
