“Tremble“ by LPX – A Video and Song Review

Studio personnel and band musicians can work their magic on a range of song attributes, but shaping an emotional climate is primarily in the “hands” of the vocalist. Unquestionably, LPX brings the emotion to “Tremble.” That is accurate of the sound recording and more accurate of the video. LPX is Lizzy Plaginger, who is the MS member of MS MR. In contrast to MS MR performances in which Lizzy seemingly flies across the stage (often in her sneakers), the camera doesn’t drop below shoulder level during the “Tremble” video.

Lyrically, “Tremble” describes that relationship region in which the one person is aware but not fully enabled to push the situation to its needed end, while the other person is blind to the need. Visually, LPX alternates between eyes-open, matter-of-fact explanations and eyes-closed, angry declarations. Interestingly, the imagery includes vibrating strings, but is more heavily rotational than it is trembling.

Quoting the SubmitHub content relating to the song:
"Tremble" again finds Plapinger pushing herself to emotional new limits, as quivering, shuddering verses give way to a sky-scraping, bend-but-don't-break chorus. “I poured every last drop of juice I had into it, embracing every fracture, squeak, and ache in my voice.” “Tremble” drips with passion. Lizzy’s vocals, alternating between sweet and sour, convey an energy and intensity that’s become characteristic of her music.
About the video, Lizzy says: “Tremble" is one of the most direct, honest and intimate songs I’ve ever written so it was important to me that in the video I face the viewer head on in the same way. This song is ultimately about confronting someone who's ignoring what they don’t want to see so it felt powerful to force the observer to see me one on one. I wanted to further highlight that emotional intensity and control with abstract images, jarring edits and color play to help communicate what that struggle feels like emotionally, while also underscoring the details of the music. "Tremble" is a balancing act of vulnerability and strength and the process of making this song and video in itself became an act of self preservation and release.

Lyrics of “Tremble“ by LPX
I don’t wanna tear your heart out
But I’m edging on a breakdown
I’ve been up and down the same route
Too afraid of the fallout
I know that we gotta quit
You just never see it

Keep holding my breath, blue
How better can I show you
What can I do to cut through
Falling fast, but I can’t move
I know that we gotta quit
You just never see it

Wish I could purge you out
Sick with doubt
God help me now
You should be picking me up, but I’m down
Can’t scream it out
There’s no sound

I’m lying awake
And I tremble
I tremble
You don’t feel a thing
While I tremble
I tremble

Like I’m stuck in a blackout,
Don’t breathe till I pass out.
And I know I gotta know,
Cause we’re only gonna burnout
I know that we got to quit
You just never see it

Don’t want to admit it
But you’re stuck in my system
And I just wanna clear it
Like an exorcism
I know we got hell to pay
You don’t wanna see it, it, it

Wish I could purge you out
Sick with doubt
God help me now
You should be picking me up, but I’m down
Can’t scream it out
There’s no sound

I’m lying awake
And I tremble
I tremble
You don’t feel a thing
While I tremble
I tremble

You should be picking me up in this battle
Should be picking me up in this battle
You should be picking me up in this battle
Should be picking me up, but I’m down
[Repeat]

Tremble
I tremble
I stumble
I crumble
I tremble
I tremble

You don’t give a damn
Why I tremble
I tremble
You don’t feel a thing
While I tremble
I tremble

You should be picking me up in this battle
Should be picking me up in this battle
You should be picking me up in this battle
Should be picking me up, but I’m down
[Repeat]
