Free Friday (“FL&R”) – August 4

Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here is a song that qualifies as Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) downloads.
Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday.
“Monument” is our newest obsession. Oly Sherman has a voice with distinguishable characteristics and the skill to gently push raw emotion into the vocals. The voice inflections are worthy of attention by themselves. Add the seemingly wandering guitar and it’s a track that should cause a buzz well beyond his base in Sydney, Australia.

The email submission from A&R quotes Sherman:
“This song pretty much represents an operation I had earlier in the year. Yet as undesirable as that sounds, it has actually created some super positive outcomes for me, both as a musician and a human being. The song is a basic reminder to anyone that when things aren’t too crash hot, it comes down to the way you think, and the people you’ve got around you. It’s a pretty powerful one for me.”
