2013 Coachella Preview - The Friday Bands

The Coachella Festival is approaching MUCH quicker than expected. Below are bands who are on the Friday schedule. In most (but not all) cases, we selected our favorite song by the band. The order of bands is consistent with the order selected by the promoters in designing the banner at the top of this blog post - but we highlighted the songs and bands we want to see by using RED.

"I Wanna be Adored" byThe Stone Roses

     "Song 2" by Blur

"Heads Will Roll" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

     "Sacrilege" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

"Dashboard" by Modest Mouse. This is a group with multiple songs that fit the "favorite" category.

"Missed the Boat" by Modest Mouse

"Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed

"Work It Out" by Jurassic 5 - Sorry, only remixes are available.

     "Heathen Child" by Grinderman

     "Bass Head" by Bassnectar

     "Next Order" by Dog Blood

"How Long?" by How to Destroy Angels

     "Carried Away" by Passion Pit

"I'm Not Your Hero" by Tegaon and Sara

"The Funeral" by Band of Horses

"Gold Guns Girls" by Metric - we saw Metric in Austin last year. We hope this performance matches Austin.

     "Breakers" by Local Natives

"Lakehouse" by Of Monsters and Men - this group has five songs that qualify as encore material.

"Six Weeks" by Of Monsters and Men

"Mambacore" by Infected Mushroom - we don't know much about this band. Song titles cause us to stay away

"The House that Heaven Built" Japandroids - This should be a great song if the crowd has energy

"Would that Not Be Nice" by Devine Fits - we love the way this song seems to be ending, but comes back even stronger.

"The Theory of Relativity" by Stars

     "My Number" by Foals

"Tessellate" by Alt-J - a stong live show

"Dark Star" by Polica - We were expecting a better show in Austin, but it could have been our position.

     "Obedear" by Purity Ring

     "Dropla" by Youth Lagoon

"Time to Run" by Lord Huron - Enjoyed their shows in SF in 2011 and 2012.

"Best of Friends" by Palma Violets - they have exploded in Europe, not in the U.S., yet

"Ministry of Love" by IO Echo

     "Sweater Weather" by Neighbourhood

More to follow, if time allows.
