“Wanderer” by The Rival – A Song Review

What a difference a few notes make! That was our thought as we listened to “Wanderer.” Each time the song goes through its chorus, there is a periodic guitar splash. It makes its first presence at 1:19 and then reenters each seven seconds until the chorus is completed. Still, without the other attractive features, “Wanderer” would not reach the level of being “blogworthy.” The vocals are strong, the changes of tempo are well-executed, and the percussion is creative (particularly at the start).
“Wanderer” is a single on the 5-track EP, “SANDS” by The Rival. The band is a Nashville duo comprising Allen Salmon and Phillip LaRue.
