Bear’s Den Album and Tour

Bear’s Den announced a rigorous tour schedule to support their third album, “So that you might hear me.” The first songs to be released reflect the intimacy and lyrical intelligence that characterize the music of Bear’s Den. Interestingly, “Fuel on the Fire” reveals a more electronic approach. Of course, the duo didn’t ask our opinion before heading in that direction. Good thing, since we would have objected. They knew better, it is a strong track.

“Blankets of Sorrow” more closely approaches the style that the fans of Bear’s Den have come to expect. Both songs work, and the different styles add to the overall appeal of the new album as its being unfolded.

The North American leg of the Bear’s Den tour begins on May 6. The schedule is included at the bottom of this crowed post. Among the dates is a stop at San Francisco’s August Hall on June 10. For ticket information about any date, CLICK HERE.

The members of Bear’s Den are Andrew Davie (lead vocals, guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, guitar). They are based in London. When discussing “So that you might hear me,” they explained:
“The album started out as an attempt at trying to communicate with someone honestly. Our thoughts are not all rational, not all considered or tied up with ribbons and bows. This album is an attempt to reveal the honest and difficult challenge of communicating with anyone that you really care about.”

Lyrics of “Blankets of Sorrow” by Bear’s Den
Hailing all of your virtues as flaws
While the ice on the floor starts to thaw
And the cracks and the veins start to form
Oh, I can't deny

Paralyzed
Your stubborn mind
Can't see the woods behind
The blankets of sorrow
No one could ever reach or pull you out
Sleeping as the sleet just falls to crystallize
Your crimson thoughts
No more “I'm sorry's”
No I'm not sorry any more
A frozen lake, a raging storm
The same damn thing in different forms
I can't make you see it
The water only reflects what it's been shown
And I know I should not have stayed

There you go
You push me away.

You're praying on the driving snow
(Is that what you want?)
To sail you back, to take you back home
(Don't shut me out again)
The bitter cold of the frost unknown
(If you want to go, then go alone)
But do I try, or comply?

Paralyzed
Your stubborn mind
Can't see the woods behind
The blankets of sorrow
No one could ever reach or pull you out
Sleeping as the sleet just falls to crystallize your crimson thoughts
No more “I'm sorry's”
No I'm not sorry any more
A frozen lake, a raging storm
The same damn thing in different forms
I can't make you see it
The water only reflects what it's been shown
And I know I should not have stayed

There you go
You push me away.

I dreamt I saw a careless child
A thistle amongst the lavender flowers
Crying as the snow started falling
A love you said I'll never know until the day
I have my own
But I beg to differ more than I know how to let it show
Not letting in or letting go
Just saying what I've always known
That I only speak
So that you might hear me.

Lyrics of “Fuel On The Fire” by Bear’s Den
I can't find you
I wouldn't even know where to look
Said to meet you back here, someday
Things change

Was it all in my mind?
Was I lost in my own head?
Worried about something I regret
Is there anything I don't regret?

No, it's not just the memory of you
It's all that comes with you
As the images start to stutter and skip
Disintegrating into sparks that glitch

There's a daemon in the server
And histories we cannot erase
You're so close and so far away
You're so close now

You’re pouring
Fuel on the fire, and I can't get enough
Fuel on the fire, and now I'm burning up
Fuel on the fire, and I won't ever stop
Fuel on the fire, remembering how to love

Remembering how to love
Remembering how to love

I can't help it
I only wish that I could
Always hoped you’d come back here someday
Things change

Was it all in my mind?
An I lost in my own head
Worrying about something I should have said
You're the only thing I don't regret

Fuel on the fire, and I can't get enough
Fuel on the fire, and now I'm burning up
Fuel on the fire, and I won't let eve stop
Fuel on the fire, remembering how to love
[Repeat]

Remembering how to love
Remembering how to love
Remembering how to love
