“Save Yourself” by The Franklin Electric – A Song Review

“Save Yourself” begins with percussion and a sustained guitar output, which changes its pitch in synchronization with the intro vocalization. The song effectively represents a variety of genres. The sustained guitar has Shoegaze characteristics, but The Franklin Electric is intrinsically a Folk Pop band. And “Save Yourself” appears to have a touch of Christian, but the message is one of self-reliance.

The Franklin Electric is a Montreal band. The members are Jon Matte (vocals, guitar, keys), Martin Desrosby (bass), Kevin Warren (percussion), and Ken Pressé (guitar). On May 7, 2017, the band will release their second album, “Blue Ceilings,” via Indica Records.

Lyrics of “Save Yourself” by The Franklin Electric (with some guesses)
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Time, determined in your own mind
Defined by all the spaces
Many more will feel the drift
When you can’t find replacements
To fill the emptiness
What you've become
What you possess
Is a pillow for your own lies to rest

It's not the books we read, of a rising hope
It's unforgiven love, in the words you spoke
And that you never meant it, did the best you know
It's not the Father/Son that can save you from
That can save you from

It’s dry and desolate
You try to find your reasons
What you’ve become
What you possess
It's a killer for your own lies
It’s still faith, faith
Heaven is your home
What about the constant haze
And the darkest gaze
Does it justify, everything you say?

It’s not the books we read, of a rising hope
It's unforgiven love, in the words you spoke
And that you never meant it, did the best you know
It’s not the Father/Son that can save you from
That can save you from

It’s not the books we read, of a rising hope
It's unforgiven love, in the words you spoke
That you never meant it, did the best you know
It’s not the Father/Son that can save you from
That can save you from
That can save you from
That can save you from
That can save you from
