Raury is a 19 year old genre blender without any shyness in exhibiting his political position. So, when he was given the major opportunity of performing as the musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he wore a shirt that dissed a follow guest. Donald Trump probably left without comment about Raury’s Mexico jersey, which had a large red “X” through the name “Trump.” After performing his song “Devil’s Whisper,” Raury presented a jersey to Colbert, who appeared very pleased when it did not include the disrespect to the Trump name [although it would have been great TV had Colbert been put into a potentially difficult position of deciding how to react to a Trump jersey].
His full name is Raury Alexander Tullis and he is from Atlanta, Georgia. He blends Soul with Hip Hop and a little Folk. Raury will release the album “All We Need” on October 16. His fall tour to promote the album includes a stop at The Independent in San Francisco on November 24. The full schedule is pasted below.
Disclaimer: there is no guarantee that the six-person choir will attend performances that aren’t televised. The choir does mask times when an artist asks more from his skills than they can deliver. But “choired,” ‘choirless,” "Trumped" or "unTrumped," Indie Obsessive will be in representation at The Independent on November 24.
