Free Friday (“FL&R”) – April 14

Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here are songs that qualify as Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) downloads.
Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday.
Today's songs look to the Folk genre.
Nick Shattuck is originally from the west coast of Wisconsin (near the Mississippi “coast”), but relocated to the West Coast in 2011. He is now based in Los Angeles. His music is a blend of Folk and Soul, with a touch of the Blues.

“Someday We’ll Be Gone” is an acoustic track from RiverChild (also used as “River Child”). A pair of acoustic guitars and the harmonica accompany thoughtful lyrics and a voice that can be characterized as having a raspiness and an enunciation clarity.

In their song “Sometimes,” The Cover Letter bring the vocal delivery of The Mountain Goats. The band is located in Austin, Texas. The members are Jacob Shipman, Jarrod Nall, Chelsea Barbo, Johnni Roaché, and Trevor Van Stanfield.
