“Lovely” by TOLEDO – A Song Feature

There is a simplicity to “Lovely;” one that should be appreciated. The rate of notes per minute is low, proving that the ability to “shred” is not a prerequisite to music gold. TOLEDO is an indie project from Daniel Alvarez de Toledo and Jordan Dunn-Pilz. They are based in Brooklyn, New York.

In explaining the motivation for their single, TOLEDO said:
“’Lovely’ is our attempt at a happy song. It’s a song is about meeting someone that makes you see the world differently. We do our best to have as much fun as possible when recording, and here that resulted in barking dogs, glitching guitars, and lots of ad libbing.”

Lyrics of “Lovely” by Toledo
I was a child before you were born
I had a friend he would sing me to sleep if I asked him to

We had a house made of rocks on a hill
We took it down cause I want to rebuild a new house with you
(A new house with you. Oh.)

Go now
(I’ll be with you oh I swear)
Starry eyed
Go now
(Don’t leave me alone don’t dare)
Starry eyed

I’ve been a rook and I’ve been a rouse
Every day more of the same changes with you
Changes with you

Everything glistens with stars in my head
Everything under the sun is lovely too
Lovely too

Go now
(I’ll be with you oh I swear)
Starry eyed
(Starry eyed)
Go now
(Don’t leave me alone don’t dare)
Starry eyed
(Starry eyed)
