“Station To Station” by Animal Scream – A Song Feature

Animal Scream ingeniously injects unpredictability without disturbing the melodic allure of their music. “Station to Station” opens with a fanfare. While horns and percussion are traditional fanfare instruments, the percussive style is not and this type of opening is rare in the Indie Universe.

When the main portion of “Station To Station” begins, the melodic drive is quickly established. There isn’t a sense of urgency, but there is a push. The song is well suited as a soundtrack for a determined advance toward or a triumphant march from a confrontation. Animal Scream strategically enters and exits the brass to enhance the drive and keep the song “fresh.”

Quoting helpful information about the single:
Animal Scream aren’t the type to make songs overly specific, preferring instead to address general themes through personal experiences, acknowledging that songs, like so many things, are entirely open to interpretation. New single ‘Station to Station’ is perhaps the broadest realization of this approach, detailing [Chad] Monticue’s six years of work as a specialty pharmacy patient advocate, during which he grew frustrated, disillusioned, and hopelessly stressed while trying to get coverage and lifesaving medication for those who would often not receive it. The song underscores the triumph of reaching the point where he’s finally able to quit and move on to a different line of work.

Animal Scream is a duo in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Chad Monticue and Josh Sickels are scheduled to release their debut LP, “Nightwalk” on July 24, 2020. The pre-release material describes the album as “Animal Scream at their most refined: electric and sharply dramatic in moments of cartwheeling bravado, while remaining flowery and exposed in its rawest moments.”
