“Unconditional Love” by Unknown Neighbour – A Song Review

“Unknown Love” brought attention to the Berliner, then attention expanded into other tracks and became admiration. “Hurricane” is almost as praiseworthy. Both tracks are on the 2018 EP “It’s Up To Me.”

“Unknown Love” has thunderous percussion and electric guitar that aren’t typically of English-spoken Folk. Perhaps it can be explained geographically. Indie Obsessive isn’t exposed to many Folk songs originating from Germany. Milky Chance is also from Germany and is also defined as being in the Folk genre, but it isn’t the Folk sound that we hear from the U.S. or the UK.

Unknown Neighbour is the performance name of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sascha Zemke. Unfortunately, we don’t know the name of the masterful female vocalist who provides the backing support.

Lyrics of “Unconditional Love” by Unknown Neighbour
I’m just a strange friend,
Who’s hard to understand
That’s what I knew
That’s what I’ve learned over the years

Impossible to find
Someone of the same kind
That’s what I knew
That’s what I’ve learned over the years

But when I stood in front of you
All the things I knew
Became untrue

Cause when I am with you
Everything feels new
But well-known too

Unconditional love
You can only get from above
That’s what I knew
That’s what I’ve learned over the years

Nobody to lean on
And all the hope is gone
That’s what I knew
That’s what I’ve learned over the years

But when I stood in front of you
All the things I knew
Became untrue

Cause when I am with you
Everything feels new
But well-known too

Cause when I am with you
Everything feels new
But well-known too
