“What You May Find” by Arctic Lake – A Song Review

Sometimes, while watching professional sporting events, it’s clear that certain individuals are undeniably more skilled, even when compared to other gifted athletes. The same is true in music, as we were reminded while listening to “What You May Find.” The vocals are arresting. The path is cleared for the vocals in this song by Arctic Lake, since the instruments are minimalist.

“What You May Find” doesn’t merely communicate an emotional state and a fear of loss. Rather, Arctic Lake brings the message to life. The protagonist has her “marks,” and they lace her dreams. Now, she is afraid what of what will be found and whether it will be understood.

Arctic Lake is a London-based trio comprising Emma Foster, Andy Richmond, and Paul Holliman.

Lyrics of “What You May Find” by Arctic Lake
I am not what you perceive
I have marks and they l lace each dream
I could learn from you, I could
But I’m scared of you not understanding

Thoughts haunt me from time to time
But in those moments
Only you break inside
I could learn from you, I could
But I’m scared of what you may find

I could only hold a while
Onto the warmth your hands provided
I could hope that you will see
That I am all that you would need

Thoughts haunt me from time to time
But in those moments
Only you break inside
I could learn from you I could
But I’m scared of what you may find

What you may find
[Repeating]

Thoughts haunt me from time to time
But in those moments
Only you break inside
I could learn from you, I could
But I’m scared of what you may find
