“Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” by Bombay Bicycle Club – A Song Feature

In January 2016, London’s Bombay Bicycle Club announced that they intended to work on solo projects. A few months later, the UK voted to leave the European Union and years of Brexit confusion have followed. There is a possibility that it’s merely coincidental. But if there’s a cause-and-effect relationship, hope for a calm resolve has arisen – Bombay Bicycle Club is again generating music and an album is due for release two weeks prior to the current deadline for a Brexit resolution.

The band’s description of the album is evidence that a connection exists:
“The album will be called ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong.’ This is an album for anyone who’s ever turned to music in a time of crisis, whether personal or political. It’s about the solace one can get from listening to music or playing music when everything else in your life or the world has gone wrong. It’s about finding kernels of hope and renewal in dire situations.”

Bombay Bicycle Club has shared two singles from the upcoming album “Everything Else Has Gone Wrong,” which is scheduled for release on January 17, 2020. The videos of both the album’s title track and “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” are included in this post. The “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” video allows fans to see the song performed by the four members, which is aligned with our preference in videos.

The lyrics of “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” are also included in this post. We were unable to find confirmation from the band, but we’ve read that the song is not a declaration of devotion to a love interest. Instead, the song reflects the “monotony” during the band’s hiatus.

The two available singles from the album evidence a continuation of Bombay Bicycle Club’s skills in writing and performing attention-grabbing hooks. “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” in particular comprises both vocal and instrumental hooks. The members of the band are Jack Steadman (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Jamie MacColl (guitar), Suren de Saram (drums) and Ed Nash (bass).

Lyrics of “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” by Bombay Bicycle Club
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you

It's so cold in the air
Put the bud in my ear
First note start
I can see where you are
Dream where you are
Will the song never end?
Us on the bed
Half a meter apart
Awkward hearts beating faster and faster
Faster and faster
We'll cut through the park
Stick to the path
I can't stick to the path
'Cause I dream about nothing but you

Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep
Nothing but you, nothing but you

I may not say it outwardly
So all I have are memories
Those looks at the start, the words in the dark
But never a flame, we just wanted the spark

Awkward hearts beating faster and faster
Faster and faster
We'll cut through the park
Stick to the path
I can't stick to the path
'Cause I dream about nothing but you

Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Nothing but you
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep, wake
Nothing but you
Eat, sleep
Nothing but you, nothing but you
Nothing but you
