“You’re Not My Real Bed” by Talu – A Song Feature

This is as close to a Christmas song as Indie Obsessive typically comes. We enjoy Holiday music; it merely isn’t featured in posts. “You’re Not My Real Bed” is about the difficulty of being in college. The song from Talu mentions that you return home for Christmas.

In explaining the song, Talu state:
“The track details a young adult, as they decide to fly the nest and go to university – but struggle with the hedonism of student life – and are left questioning why they’re there… ‘You’re Not My Real Bed’ is written from the point of a friend talking to the protagonist – who’s encouraging them to open up about their feelings and remember why they decided to come to university in the first place.”

Talu is an Indietronica band from Sussex. The start of “You’re Not My Real Bed” shows the influence of Bombay Bicycle Club, but Talu carves out its own sound. The members of the Sussex band are Will Martins (keys, vocals), Nat Hill (drums, vocals), and David Richmond (guitar, vocals).
