Jamie Yost - Free Saturday (“FL&R”)

Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) song each Saturday (this week, we are one day late).

Jamie Yost is a vocalist/songwriter in Plymouth, UK. His bio explains, “Known for his atmospheric highs and soulful grit, Devon’s Jamie Yost blends his own take on poetic lyricism and introspective songwriting.”

      “Smoke” by Jamie Yost

“Sunrise” is a good song that turns great at the 2:22 mark.

Lyrics of “Smoke” by Jamie Yost
On the edge again
Of a war it's time to pretend
I see the flashing lights
The holy grail it’s bleeding bright
Wake me up slow
Because I don't wanna see, don't wanna know
Coughing up blood
But if not for you then not for love

You know that I didn't need a friend
Lost in the way that we'd pretend
Follow the moon maybe i'll be alright
I say fuck it don't grieve the night
Watch it up in smoke
Watch it up in smoke

I'm feverish
Sick of reminders of previous
Day to forget
Behind stoic eyes reveals regret
Keep coughing up blood
But if not for you then not for love

You know that I didn't need a friend
Lost in the way that we'd pretend
Follow the moon maybe i'll be alright
I say fuck it don't grieve the night
Watch it up in smoke
Watch it up in smoke
Watch it up in smoke

Crucified in clarity
My own head my enemy
Can't shake the fear in front of me
Dangling keys just out of reach

Crucified in clarity
My own head my enemy
Can't shake the fear in front of me
Dangling keys just out of reach

You know that I didn't need a friend
Lost in the way that we'd pretend
Follow the moon maybe i'll be alright
I say fuck it don't grieve the night
Watch it up in smoke
Watch it up in smoke
Watch it up in smoke

Lyrics of “Sunrise” by Jamie Yost
Time came and passed me by
So quick to be gone but so clear in your eyes
I was hunted by the wolves
I didn't know how to find you, you were lost to the bitter and cruel

For I didn't see the sunrise
Couldn't sleep for some time but you knew
Promises we kept
Times I overstepped

And I couldn't flee for sometime
I didn't feel for your petty cries
I threw my hope into something new
Held you to blame for something I outgrew
For something that I outgrew

So tell me darling is this the truth
Is there anything more that I can do

For I didn't see the sunrise
Couldn't sleep for some time but you knew
Promises we kept
Times I overstepped

And there's a ripple in the way we rise
Oh there's a silence in the shade of your eyes

Now i'm holding on to the failures through the fall
Now i'm holding on to reminders of it all

It all
