“Looking” by Buckets – A Song Feature

Like a kaleidoscope, “Looking” creates a different impression with each twist. The song by Buckets has many twists, which is most apparent in the vocals. After a simple-yet-interesting percussive intro, a single voice is heard. Then, repeatedly different approaches to gang-vocals sensibilities cycle through “Looking.” Within the first 75 seconds of the song, the gang vocals promote the melodic attractiveness of the single, then forcefully emphasize their conviction in the message, before aggressively shouting that message – naming, “I can’t tell you what I’m looking for!”

Buckets skillfully marries the intensity of the instrumentation to that of the vocals. The instruments vary from melodic support to reinforcing the combativeness in the gang vocals. While talking about the song, Buckets said:
“’Looking’ is the second single off Buckets’ upcoming self-titled, debut LP. The dynamic structure, high energy instrumentation, and sporadic gang vocals are essential to the new indie-punk project’s catchy sound. ‘I can’t tell you what I’m looking for’ croons the whole quartet as the rhythm section builds up into the explosive chorus. Maybe this track is what we’ve all been looking for.”

Buckets is based in Los Angeles, although no member was born or raised in the city. Lead singer Tanner Houghton and guitarist Sasha Massey are from Seattle, bassist Mitch Rossiter arrived from Ohio, and drummer Hiram Sevilla is from Mexico.
