“No Rain” by Me Not You – A Song Feature

Me Not You is a Brooklyn-based duo with a sound that includes delicate guitar, smooth vocals, and production that resides in that Goldilocks Zone in which a song “pops” but not so much as to distract from the melodic flow.  They recently covered the one hit of Blind Melon. The original “No Rain” has aged well, but Me Not You took a fundamentally different, creative approach that makes the cover more of a child than a sibling to the original.

Because it is still the Fourth of July weekend, “Battle Hymn” (not “of the Republic”) is also included. The members of Me Not You are Nikky Taylor and Eric Zeller.

Lyrics of “Battle Hymn” by Me Not You
we took each other’s hands
and we held on
ashes ashes
till we all fell down

something had to give
we were homebound
we survived the bomb
but not the fallout

to the naked eye
we still look the same
but underneath our skin
everything has changed
draw the curtain up
and cue the violins
to play a quiet song
this is my battle hymn

sugar on your tongue
for the last time
where did they go
the strawberry nights

we took each other’s hands
and we held on
ashes ashes
till we all fell down

to the naked eye
we still look the same
but underneath our skin
everything has changed
draw the curtain up
and cue the violins
to play a quiet song
this is my battle hymn
