Today we received an email notification from the Brooklyn-based band Augustines, which recently changed its name from We Are Augustines. The mass email (we are not claiming to have an inside scoop) gave notice that the band will be touring with Frightened Rabbit this fall. The full schedule is pasted below, but among the stops is a show at the Warfield in San Francisco on September 30th. We jumped on purchasing tickets at CLICK HERE.
This is a good pairing, since Frightened Rabbit is one of our favorite Scottish bands and Augustines is our favorite U.S. band with the Scottish sound. Within the last twelve months, we have reviewed two San Francisco visits by Frightened Rabbit, with the first visit occurring at The Independent and the second at the Fillmore. Both exceeded expectations.
It can be argued that Frightened Rabbit is an acquired taste. But once the investment is made, the dividends more than offset the price. As our earlier posts have noted, it is difficult to find a more devoted and loyal fan base.
The members of Augustines are Billy McCarthy, Eric Sanderson and Rob Allen. Our songs of preference are "Chapel Song" and "Headlong into the Abyss." They performed "Chapel Song" during a visit to David Letterman.
