“Lost Paradise” by Hiaground - Free Friday/Saturday (“FL&R”)

     Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here is a song that qualifies as a Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) download.

     Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday/Saturday.

           Reggae is alive and well on islands larger than Jamaica. “Lost Paradise” by Hiaground is from Sydney, Australia. The instruments and vocals dutifully contribute to the genre’s rhythm, until the 2:48 mark, when the guitars go rogue.  Initially, the breakout is Shoegaze, but they turn to Rock at 3:13.

     It seems as if it’s been some time since we featured a band with brothers. Hiaground fits that description. The members are Jimmy Heathwood, Kyle Maguire, Liam and Pat Byrne, and Fernando Durango.
