Catching Up – SubmitHub Misses

SubmitHub is a site that allows artists and their reps to reach out to bloggers, video posters, and labels. There is a 48-hour time limit to respond to the artist. Sometimes, we don’t fully appreciate a song until after the time has expired. Here are some examples of blogworthy submissions that we missed until after the 48-hour window closed.

Vienna-born and now Berlin-based enigmatic multi-instrumentalist Leitmotif and singer/songwriter Lisa Rowe deliver a rough and edgy debut track. The pop-infused indie-folk song stands out through its mood-lifting hook.

Sloes is a quintet based in London. The members are Jerome Clark (vocals, samples, drum machine), Paul William Hand (guitar, backing vocals, keys), Luke Coare (drums), Jo Milnes (bass, backing vocals, keys) and his sister Katie Elizabeth Milnes (violin, backing vocals, keys).

     “Misunderstood” by Sloes

Pilkrow was formed in 2017 by Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Graham Shafer.

     “Water The Flowers” by Pilkrow

Lyrics of “Water The Flowers” by Pilkrow
(And you always said)
(That in a nation of two)
(You must always remember)
(To water the flowers)

Stripes
Fill up blurry eyes
Brass
Gone green and stigmatized

Flock
Wishing for the V
Branch
Stretched from giving tree

Air
Blown out through the mouth
Thoughts
Bared teeth in a crouch

Drape
Covers broken glass
Cuts
Holding stitches fast

Brace
For the impact layer
Sleep
Both a joke and a prayer

Steel
For the coming 'round
Foot
Out in green and brown

(Have you heard the news?)
(They say it's gonna rain tomorrow)

     Quoting bio information:
Skrizzly Adams says he wants to “make the Americana of the future.”  And, by all accounts, the future is now.  The New Jersey-born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer has made name for himself by seamlessly blending elements of indie rock, pop, and hip hop – a nod to whom Skrizzly considers the Holy Trinity: Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, and Kanye West.

     “Slip” by Skrizzly Adams

Lyrics of “slip” by Skrizzly Adams
I got my mind on the money and you know it
I got a pistol full of pain and it’s showing
Hit the gas and I whip it like it’s stolen
And before you see me I’m gone

I say I’m just trying to find myself
Holding on to nothing with no one else
I don’t want to fake it
Holy when I taste it
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone

Baby girl, yea, you’re standing there so mean
Let’s lie to each other like we were seventeen
I’m just trynna feel a little pleasure in the pain
When I feel myself slipping, I’m gone

I say I’m just trying to find myself
Holding on to nothing with no one else
I don’t want to fake it
Holy when I taste it
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone
Yea I’m just trying to find myself
Holding on to nothing with no one else
I don’t want to fake it
Holy when I taste it
Feel myself slipping. I’m gone

I got my mind on the money and you know it
I got a pistol full of pain and it’s showing
Hit the gas and I whip it like it’s stolen
And before you see me I’m gone

I say I’m just trying to find myself
Holding on to nothing with no one else
I don’t want to fake it
Holy when I taste it
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone
Yea I’m just trying to find myself
Holding on to nothing with no one else
I don’t want to fake it
Holy when I taste it
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone
Feel myself slipping, I’m gone
