Emma Ruth Rundle - Free Friday/Saturday (“FL&R”)

Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here are songs that qualify as Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) downloads.
Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday/Saturday (we were a day late on this one).
KEXP posted “Darkhorse” as its Song of the Day. It is dark yet motivating. The song is from Emma Ruth Randle of Los Angeles. She will visit Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco on December 10th.

Lyrics of “Darkhorse” by Emma Ruth Rundle
Run little sister
Run so fast
I see he’s gaining on you

Take a breath
And make it last
The darkwater horizon

Smile like you mean it
And just cast the light
Of hell right out of here

No one else can see it
The shape that makes you
Fall on fallow ground

So no more laying down
And no more dragging out

It’s the darkhorse you give legs to
No one else can ride

In the wake of strange beginnings
We can still stand high

Sing a song
A verse unhinged
Passed down from our mother

Take breath
And make it count
And learn to sing another

Try ‘cause we need to
And laugh the life of hell
Right out of here

No one else can see him
The shape that makes you
Fall on fallow ground

So lay your burden down
In the springtime that surrounds you

It’s the darkhorse we give legs to
No one else can ride

In the wake of strange beginnings,
We can still stand high

You and I, it's you and I
You and I, it's you and I
Still try
