“Young Kids, Old Love” by Otis English – The Otis Trilogy

On Tuesday, we experienced the Otis Trilogy. The first two-thirds was unplanned. On that day, Otis English released his song “Young Kids, Old Love.” It immediately went on our ready-to-review queue of songs. Coincidentally, during the evening we walked into a room in which the 2007 movie “Shooter” was about to end. When the movie credits started to roll, a portion of the song “Nasty Letter” started to play. The song belongs or Otis Taylor. To complete the trilogy, a few Otis Redding songs were cued.

“Young Kids, Old Love” is the debut song of Otis English on Crooked Paintings. English is based in based in Los Angeles.

Lyrics of “Young Kids, Old Love” (some best guesses)
Time lost and time lost
When I'm with you, the world stops
If you fall, then I fall
Young kids with a, old love
[percussion]
Young kids with a, old love.

When our skin turns grey
When our pages start to give way
We'll look back on our days
Our life in 42 frames.

Wherever you might save your last breath for
I'll be there to remind you how we said
Time lost and time lost
When I'm with you, the world stops
If you fall, then I fall
Young kids with a, old love
[percussion]
Young kids with a, old love

So can't you just lay down, with me?
Don't have to fight, don't have to feel
Slow breath, no rush
In a fight with my guns
Slow breath, no rush
In a fight with my guns
Slow breath, no rush
In a fight with my guns
Slow breath, no rush
In a fight with my guns

Time lost and time lost
When I'm with you, the world stops
If you fall, then I fall
Young kids with a, old love
Time lost and time lost
When I'm with you, the world stops
If you fall, then I fall
Young kids with a, old love
[percussion]
Young kids with a, old love
