“Might’ve Misheard” by Fort Lean – A Song Review

Fort Lean is a Brooklyn-based band who will release their debut album on October 2. “Might’ve Misheard” will be among the tracks on “Quiet Day.” During the verses, the song is relatively relaxed in its vocals and relatively simple in its instrumentation. But when the chorus rolls in with “I thought you said..,” all relaxation disappears. Because “Might’ve Misheard” alternates between the two moods, the song remains fresh throughout its four minutes.
The members of Fort Lean are Jake Aron, Zach Fried, Keenan Mitchell, Will Runge and Sam Ubl. They met at Wesleyan University.

Lyrics of “Might’ve Misheard”
I just saw some local guys slip around the back
Not to be alarmist, but also I don't want to get attacked
I'm not the only one who feels this way
I'm not the only one who feels this way

Would be nice to stay for more than just tonight
I'd like to have a drink and also not get in a fight
I'm not the only one who feels this way
I'm not the only one who feels this way

I thought you said, we could both disappear
And then we'd get away
I might be wrong, I might've misheard
I feel there might be something safe

It feels like someone's been behind us for a week
I meant to say something but I keep falling back to sleep
I'm not the only one who feels this way
I'm not the only one who feels this way

I thought you said we could both disappear
And then we'd get away
I might be wrong, I might've misheard
I feel there might be something safe

[This time quietly]
I thought you said we could both disappear
And then we'd get away
I might be wrong, I might've misheard
I feel there might be something safe

[This time with force]
I thought you said we could both disappear
And then we'd get away
I might be wrong, I might've misheard
I feel there might be something safe
