Single Review: “I Hope You're Well” Violet Night

For British Columbia duo Violet Night, their style of atmospheric, Synth Pop is very reminiscent of Death Cab For Cutie and Owl City, with a level of depth to their introspective Indie Pop that sets them apart from many of their up-beat, radio-friendly peers. “I Hope You're Well” is a beacon for listeners drawn to emotionally-driven, contemplative sounds, and it doesn't disappoint in that regard.

“I Hope You're Well” is a ballad-esque number with soothing piano and assorted atmospherics. The lyrics perfectly capture the longing for a lost relationship and the level of acceptance that comes with time. While the slow tempo and melancholy may not appeal to listeners looking for something more up-beat, for those drawn to melodic music that wears its heart on its sleeve, “I Hope You're Well” is exactly that.
