“FEEL” by Simple Fiction – A Song Feature

An unexpected benefit of reviewing our 2018 posts for purposes of selecting a “Best of 2018” list was a realization that we are straying away from songs featuring our favorite Rock instrument – the electric guitar. Sure, tastes change, sometimes as “evolutions” and other times as temporary “eddies” before rejoining the main flow. We welcome most taste changes, but not one that is a departure from the electric guitar. It’s time to swim back into the main current without departing from the appreciation of music within the eddy.

“FEEL” is melodically and vocally strong, but its greatest strength is the electric guitar. The intro begins with a bass line, then adds an attractive guitar hook. The song belongs to Simple Fiction, a trio from Guildford, UK. They are James Evans (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Carlos De Los Santos (lead guitar, synth) and Tom Blunt (drums and backing vocals).

Lyrics of “FEEL” by Simple Fiction
So you look like you're going on the right track
You got a job and things are going well
At least you're fooling everybody else

Take the time to walk the line
Go through the streets and underneath the cranes
You block it out with all your city brains
You're tolerant when every day's the same

How do you cope
With all these feelings on your mind?

And I FEEL
Like we'll just remain
And I FEEL
Like it’s all the same
So don't you
FEEL like we'll go in circles
Maybe, baby

You make your money
But you work six days a week
Wearing out the soles under your feet
Being social, but you never speak

And I saw a thousand cares just through your stare
Yet you're comfortable with people everywhere
You know it strips me bare

And I FEEL
Like we'll just remain
And I FEEL
Like it’s all the same
Don't you FEEL
Like we're goin’ in circles
Maybe, baby

[Instrumental bridge]

FEEL, don’t you FEEL?

And I FEEL,
Like we'll just remain
And I FEEL
Like it’s all the same
So don't you FEEL
Like we're goin’ in circles
Maybe
